Today:

  • In P.E, we practiced underhand throwing. Ask me what game we played!

  • We got to do writing outside today and enjoy the beautiful weather! We used sensory details to describe fall. Ask me what I wrote about.

  • We also played a team-building game outside called Shipwreck. Ask me how to play!

  • In literacy stations, we practiced our writing station.

  • In math, we reviewed concepts from our time unit. Ask me to practice these questions at home:

    1. Soccer practice starts at 4:15 p.m. and ends at 5:05 p.m. How long is soccer practice?

    2. A movie starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:56 p.m. How long is the movie?

    3. School starts at 9:14 and lasts 6 hours and 12 minutes. What time does school end?

    4. Ava starts reading at 7:40 p.m. and reads for 1 hour and 27 minutes. What time does she finish?

    5. A field trip ends at 2:45 p.m. and lasted for 2 hours and 40 minutes. What time did the field trip start?

    6. Ask me to create my own word problem and to solve it 

    7. Ask me to tell you what quarter to, quarter past, and half past means 

  • We started checking out books from the library today!

September 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 – Welcome to the New Year Open House (No sign up is required for this. More information will be sent next week.)

September 25 – NO SCHOOL – Non-Instruction Day

September 29 – Orange Shirt Day

September 30 – NO SCHOOL – National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

THURSDAY IS OUR ‘WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR’ / MEET THE TEACHER OPEN HOUSE  

Please join us on Thursday, September 24 sometime between 5:00 - 7:00 to drop in during our ‘Welcome to the New Year’ Open House.    

Although we will have a 2-hour window of time available for families to come in, approximately 15-minutes per child is all that is needed. (You do not need to sign up for a specific time to come, just drop in at a time that works for your family.)   

This drop-in evening will give you a chance to:  

  • take a walk through the school to see the fantastic documentation panels that classes have created outside of our classrooms 
  • see the inside of your child's classroom  
  • say hello to your child's homeroom teacher  
  • see a few things that your child will share about classroom routines, structures and activities  
  • meet / visit with other families outside on the playground / courtyard area
  • visit the food trucks that our School Council has arranged and meet some of the parents that volunteer as part of the council 

**Please note, this Open House evening is not intended as a time for teachers to sit down to discuss how each child is doing, as school will only been in school for a few weeks and teachers are still getting to know their

We are so excited to be starting the 2026-2027 year with you!  This year, our whole school will continue to use Blogger to make regular agenda posts.   To make it easier for you, you can add the blog right on the home screen of your phone or iPad or tablet.  We hope this makes communication between home and school easier and opens great conversations between you and your child.   The CBE and Mrs. Brinson will be communicating important updates and information to you through School Messenger email titled , “ Northern Lights News for ___ ”. Today: - We did another STEM challenge called "paper chain." Ask me about it  - We started our first science unit called Matter. Today we made our title page and learned new vocabulary words  - We made bookmarks  - We continued to work on our self portrait art  - In P.E we played gaga ball  - We played Power of Ten Games   - We did our daily word work. Ask me what root words I learned today  - We continued our daily read aloud of "Wild Summer"  - We had some finish-up time today. We also had a class discussion about the importance of staying focused on our job, using our time wisely, and ALWAYS doing our best work. Please continue this conversation at home as well! - We chose our class reward for our star jar.
